Sharon Wilson GP rotation

Selby and York primary Care Trust and its predecessors have operated a punitive rotation between general practitioners for Sharon Wilson for four extended periods over more than eleven years, although ostensibly the policy was to be reviewed every three months. Sharon Wilson had:
In between were periods of relative stability. The table below shows a rotation of GPs since the start of the latest period in 2004 at intervals averaging about a fortnight for two and a half years. At least fifteen doctors in twelve practices were involved for 38 rotations. Three of these practices have their nearest surgery more than two miles away. Only two of the practices in the York urban area are not involved. This is an intensification of the punitive rotation compared with the three earlier periods. On 21 November 2006 the GP rotation was ended and North Yorkshire PCT wrote to Sharon Wilson denying her access to any local GPs and advising her that NHS Direct would provide her with a call management, clinical assessment and triage service.
NotesSharon Wilson considers that doctor B1 allocated in practice B is unsuitable as on an earlier occasion he did not recognise symptoms of Cushing's Syndrome, diabetes etc. that were diagnosed later. Sharon Wilson considers that two of the doctors in practice D are unsuitable as on an earlier occasion they refused necessary treatment. They also refused home visits, necessary for a patient suffering from agoraphobia. |
