Taunting

On 28 August 1997 an out-of-hours doctor visited with a supposed colleague who gave the name of a doctor who was not on duty at the time and never has been identified.

On another occasion a doctor gave a false name over the telephone.  The doctor was reprimanded after his voice was identified from a tape recording.

Misdiagnosis

As a result of the frequent rotation between doctors, doctors who see her appear not to be aware of old diagnoses of chronic conditions and jump to conclusions ignoring tests and more thorough diagnoses made in the past.  Sharon Wilson knows more of her own medical history than is apparent from a quick reading of her notes, but doctors have not taken her knowledge seriously and wrongly disputed what she said.

Inappropriate prescriptions

In November 2006 a doctor having fleeting responsibility for Sharon Wilson prescribed  metronidazole in a suspension containing alcohol and sugar.  This is inappropriate for a diabetic, and capsules should have been prescribed.  The same doctor also proposed to prescribe metformin. The Drugs.com information on the drug starts with, "Do not use metformin if you have kidney disease or congestive heart failure." See Sharon Wilson illnesses and treatments for relevant conditions.

Failure to advise and monitor

None of her chronic conditions has been monitored over a period of more than twenty years.

Refusal of medical attention

Several doctors have refused home visits although Sharon Wilson is agoraphobic and has other serious illnesses.  In one period when she was refused home visits her spine collapsed as a result of withdrawal of beta blockers.

At least one doctor refused repeat prescriptions without examination.

A doctor wrote that she needed hospital attention.  A year later the hospital turned her away without a scan.

She again attended York Hospital in July 2006.  A letter from the hospital dated 17 November 2006 stated: "Dr ... states that the medical assessments and investigations performed confirmed either only normal health or stable health in the context of previously recognised long-standing conditions."  Out patient appointments were arranged for further assessment of the long-standing conditions, but it was not possible for an agoraphobic to attend these without suitable transport.

On 10 March 2007 she was conveyed to York Hospital by an emergency ambulance after a diabetic collapse.  After stabilising treatment she was sent home the same day.  This is not satisfactory as, without monitoring or regular prescriptions, the diabetes is uncontrolled.

Following a request from a GP on the rota, she was taken by ambulance again to York Hospital on 14 March 2007.  Symptoms included a pulse of 140 while inactive.  A consultant refused to give her a proper examination and told her to go away.  He also threatened to call the police.

Covering up of neglect

A doctor dispensed valium from his briefcase although the drug was contra-indicated for kidney disease and then omitted the transaction from the medical records.
